What's Working Wednesday: Instagram Ads for Recruiting

On today’s edition of What’s Working Wednesday, where we talk about what’s working in this digital marketing adventure we’re taking, we’re sharing what we learned using Instagram ads.

So, maybe I was late to the party on Instagram ads, but let me tell you, they have been performing so much higher than our Facebook ads, I had to share it with you.

Previously whenever I had run an ad on Facebook I would uncheck the little box next to “Instagram feed” mainly because I’m not active on Instagram and I didn’t want another platform to babysit. But we were working on this recruiting job for an entry level inside sales rep outside of Philly for a very exciting tech startup. I thought this would be an easy job to recruit for, but not everyone, especially recent grads, understand what a massive opportunity it is to work for a startup and get rewarded with stock options. What's Working Wednesday: Live Trainings

Today on What’s Working Wednesday, where we share what’s working in this digital marketing adventure, we’re talking about using live online events to promote your product or service.

I have to say, I was very resistant to using live events when I put together my launch strategy.  When I say live events, I’m referring to webinars, live streams, Periscope, live trainings, Facebook Live, Google Hangouts, etc. I felt I was getting inundated with invitations to live webinars and my customers would be exhausted by it, too. I am used to signing up for a live webinar only to find out that the information is mediocre, encompasses about 15-20 mins of a 90 minute presentation, and it all led to a promotion at the end I wasn’t expecting.

So, at first, I didn’t include it at all.  But I was promoting an online course so I needed to include a give away that showed people what the course was like on the inside and my style of training. I opted to give away a sneak peek at the course which was four lessons from the first module of the actual course.

What's working Wednesday is basically a chronicle of what's working behind the scenes in our business.  It's a chance for you to pull back the curtain on us, but also forces me to reflect back on a weekly basis of the one most effective thing that is working for us right now. 

This week it's hiring a copywriter.

For some people, hiring a copywriter is a no brainer.  They don't feel comfortable writing.  It gives them anxiety. They don't know where to start and they get the dreaded writer's block.

What's Working Wednesday: LeadPages

What's Working Wednesday: LeadPages

For those of you following What's Working Wednesday. It's more of a journal and chronicling of what's working in our business for us right now, so we can look back on it and piece together our journey. But might as well share it in the meantime, right? 

This week What's Working is Leadpages. It took me a long time to believe the hype. Marketers promote it up the wazoo because it pays ridiculously good affiliate commissions for people who have the premium level product. I opted for the basic version (main difference being level of customer service) at least to start, and no, I'm not an affiliate. I won't be unless I see the real value in the premium product I would be promoting. 

What's great about LeadPages is that it's totally responsive. I mean, my website is responsive, but these templates are a different level. They are extremely easy to work with and you can't really mess up the design.  The purpose is to create a "lead" page. A page where someone clicks through an ad or a link and are brought to a very clean page where they see the benefits of taking the next step.  It collects email addresses and integrates with your email campaign manager.  It can also (in beta) send a "lead magnet." Which is basically the thing people sign up to get, like our "ULTIMATE LIST OF SALES TECH TOOLS I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT."  It is not on your website (though you could make it that way). It's hosted by yourcompany.leadpages.net . The positive about that is people aren't tempted to navigate away from the page and check out what else is on your site.  The negative is I've seen people use it place of a website (it certainly is an easy way to get a professional page up quickly) but the leadpages domain gives it away. I guess you could create a masked domain forwarding for your domain provider and people would never know...
